Editorial Policy

How we research, create, review, and maintain technology content—and how we use AI responsibly.

Last updated: October 20, 2026

1. Our purpose

NextStackNews.tech is a technology-focused publication covering artificial intelligence, software development, cybersecurity, developer tools, gadgets, startups, and related topics. Our goal is to help readers understand technology developments and make better informed decisions.

We aim to publish content that is accurate, relevant, understandable, and useful. Publishing speed and search visibility do not take priority over factual reliability and reader value.

2. AI-assisted content creation

Our developer and editorial workflow may use AI tools to assist with research planning, outlining, drafting, editing, summarizing source material, generating code examples, and preparing metadata. The extent of AI assistance can vary by article.

AI-generated text can contain mistakes, unsupported claims, outdated information, or fabricated references. AI output is not automatically considered accurate merely because it is clearly written.

Before publication, we aim to review important factual claims, verify sources where practical, check technical examples, and improve the material with relevant context, explanation, testing, or original analysis. We remain responsible for the content we publish.

Where the use of AI would materially affect how a reader understands an article, we may disclose that assistance in the article or its accompanying notes. We do not claim that every article is written entirely by a human, nor that every article has undergone the same level of independent review.

3. Research and sources

When reporting on product announcements, software releases, security issues, research, or company statements, we aim to consult relevant primary sources such as official documentation, original research papers, release notes, advisories, and attributable statements. Secondary reporting may provide additional context.

Sources should be relevant to the claim they support. We do not knowingly invent quotations, citations, interviews, test results, or source documents. If a claim cannot be sufficiently verified, we may qualify it, omit it, or explain the uncertainty.

4. Technical accuracy and testing

Code examples, tutorials, and technical explanations should identify important assumptions, versions, limitations, and security considerations where relevant. When we have not independently tested a procedure or product, we will not represent it as personally tested.

Software and security information can change quickly. Readers should consult current official documentation before using instructions in production environments.

5. Originality and attribution

We aim to add original explanation, context, analysis, or practical value rather than simply republishing other publishers' work. External material should be attributed when appropriate, and quotations should be limited to what is reasonably necessary.

We do not knowingly present another person's reporting, writing, images, or research as our own. Readers can report suspected attribution or copyright issues through our contact page.

6. Headlines, images, and metadata

Headlines and summaries should represent the content fairly and should not promise findings that an article does not contain. Images, illustrations, captions, and alternative text should be relevant and should not mislead readers about real events.

We aim to write useful page titles, descriptions, structured data, and image text for people and search engines without misleading readers or manufacturing claims about an article.

7. Independence and commercial content

Advertising, sponsorships, affiliate relationships, and other commercial arrangements—when used—should not be misrepresented as independent editorial coverage. Sponsored material should be identified clearly. We aim to distinguish editorial content from promotional material.

8. Updates and accountability

Technology changes, and published content may require updates. When we identify a material factual error, we aim to correct it and explain significant changes where appropriate. See our Corrections Policy for details.

9. Reader feedback

Readers can raise questions, report errors, suggest topics, or provide relevant sources through our contact page. A submission does not guarantee a response or publication.

10. Continuous improvement

As NextStackNews develops, we may refine our research, review, disclosure, and publishing processes. We will update this page when our published standards materially change.
